It’s time to pull the sweatpants out again for what is becoming a Lake tradition – the third Lake of the Ozarks Food Truck Festival this weekend in Laurie.

If you plan your visit efficiently, you can fit lunch and dinner in at this popular event Saturday and Sunday at the Hillbilly Fairgrounds, 269 Fairgrounds Dr.. April’s event attracted an estimated 5,000 people.

Hours are 12-7 p.m. and the event features live music throughout with bounce houses, face painting and family-friendly activities for the kids. Tent vendors will also be back with baked goods, snacks, handcrafted gifts and boutiques.

Festival organizers have finalized plans with the City of Laurie which requires a new, temporary, two-day event license for each vendor, a rule enacted at the September Board of Aldermen meeting. The board also required organizer Ashley Hays to submit a $1,000 deposit to help cover electricity use and festival cleanup. Hays is currently working with other food truck vendors for an agreement on distance for mobile food vendors. Hays owns BaristaGo Coffee Trailer of Camdenton.

“We just want to get the same recognition that brick-and-mortar restaurants do for it to be fair. We are just as important,” said LOTO Food Truck Festival co-organizer Brandon Billaci, owner of Shady Shack Mexican Food Trailer of Ivy Bend.

All codes and ordinances are in place and 28 food trucks and vendors will converge on the fairgrounds to serve craft coffee, smoothies, energy drinks, enchiladas and tacos, ice cream, barbecue and hot dogs. Some of the returning favorites are Shooby Snacks, Wicked Taco and The Frozen Spoon. New food vendors joining the festival are LynFre’z Rolled Ice Cream and Panini Truck and Elorine’s Jamaican Kitchen. On-site local fairgrounds food shack vendors Andyroos Snack Shack and Chicago Ron's will also be open for the event.

Live music through the weekend includes local artists Phillip Twitchell, Steven Tyler Moore, Starla & Scotty and Sarah Allison.

Peddler’s Medley Spray Paint Art from Springfield will do live demonstrations. The ever-popular tie-dye station and kids' crafts will keep crowds entertained long enough to go through the food lines a second time.

Baristago Coffee Company, Shady’s Shack, Frozen Spoon, Wicked Tacos Food Truck, Show Me Smokin BBQ, DelMotte Services Lemonade, SnoCones, Cotton Candy, Hawk’s Popcorn and Pork Rinds, Bless This Burger, Elorine’s Jamaican Kitchen and LynFre’z.
